MANILA, Philippines - The Philippines is open for business. This was the message that President Benigno Aquino sent to the attendees of the ASEAN 100 Leadership Forum on Thursday.
The President answered questions from ASEAN industry leaders, who wanted to know if the Philippines is ready to become the next Asian economic "tiger."
Aquino said the biggest challenge is changing the country's reputation to become a nation where business is good.
Recent improvements in the country's economy are a testament to this, the President said.
Aquino added that he is still not contented with the government's anti-corruption campaign although it has been effective so far.
The President also lauded state weather bureau PAGASA, in passing.
Aquino mentioned a text message from a friend of his, who said PAGASA can now finally give people hope.
He said the weather bureau's accuracy and effectiveness saved many lives.
The President tried to evade questions about his love life, saying he will try but he's not sure if he will succeed.
