MANILA, Philippines - The United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) announced today ten of their 12 candidates for the senatorial elections in 2013.
However, it was the name of Senator Loren Legarda that was the only new one included today.
UNA has announced, over the past few months, its other candidates:
incumbent Senator Gregorio Honasan;
former Senator Ernesto Maceda;
former Senator Richard Gordon;
former Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri;
Zambales Rep. Mitos Magsaysay;
Cagayan Rep. Jack Enrile;
San Juan Rep. JV Ejercito; and,
businessman Joey de Venecia.
The UNA founders – Vice President Jejomar Binay and former President Joseph Estrada – said Movie and Television Review and Classification Board chairman Grace Poe is already an “adopted candidate.”
Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero, meanwhile, is supposedly 90% sure of joining UNA.
According to sources, the 12th spot would go to Margarita “Tingting” Cojuangco, President Benigno Aquino III's aunt.
The last two candidates will be announced Friday.
Meanwhile, boxing icon Manny Pacquaio was also proclaimed UNA’s official congressional candidate in Sarangani.
