CAVITE, Philippines- President Benigno Aquino, Interior Mar Roxas and Transportation Secretary Jun Abaya led Liberal Party (LP) leaders in endorsing their candidates for the mid-term elections in Cavite.
The 3 were joined by prospective senatorial candidates Ruffy Biazon and Risa Hontiveros.
The LP line-up in the province is led by Congressman and former Governor Ayong Maliksi and his runningmate, Ronald Jay Lacson, a son of Senator Panfilo Lacson.
Maliksi said he is returning to the capitol to help secure the legacy he left. He criticized his successor, incumbent Governor Jonvic Remulla, who was his vice governor.
Maliksi said Remulla didn't help him when he was vice governor. He said Lacson will be his partner now and he introduced him as someone more qualified and who is not from showbiz.
Aquino spent most of his speech thanking Caviteños and praising Abaya for his work in the legislature.
Aquino joked that the transportation secretary may be president someday, since Abaya and his own father before him were also party secretaries-general of the LP and who vied for the presidency.
