MANILA, Philippines – South Africa International Relations and Cooperation Deputy Minister Ebrahim Ebrahim arrived in the country near midnight Sunday for a two-day working visit.
Ebrahim is set to meet with Foreign Affairs Undersecretary of International Economic Policy Laura del Rosario.
Ebrahim’s visit seeks to strengthen the two countries’ relations in terms of trade, tourism and culture.
Both Ebrahim and Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert Del Rosario signed the memorandum of agreement creating a Bilateral Consultative Forum in the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
South Africa is the Philippines’ largest trading partner in the Africa region, with 2011’s trade volume reaching $218-million.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries began in 1993. Report from DZMM
