NEW YORK – President Benigno Aquino III is seeing a “change of attitude” in the Supreme Court.
This was his answer when asked a question posed by an employee of the World Bank here on how his government can move faster in effecting change in the Philippines, given a perceived "uncooperative" Supreme Court that blocks his administration's every move.
"I think there's a change in attitude as far as the Supreme Court is concerned. They are now more partners than they were before," Aquino said.
The president expressed optimism that Filipinos are now more empowered and engaged in effecting the changes they want to see.
As shown by impeachment cases actually being filed against perceived errant officials, he said this has enlightened some members of the judiciary to the fact that people will not take things sitting down anymore.
"Can we move it faster? We can move a lot faster the more efforts you join with us,” Aquino said.
