MANILA, Philippines - Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia is no longer pursuing her Senate bid, the United Nationalist Alliance said.
Garcia informed Vice President Jejomar Binay she will just seek a post at the lower House.
Binay, for his part, said Garcia’s decision does not have anything to do with her weak showing in surveys.
Recent polls showed a strong showing by her colleagues in UNA. At least seven of the 12 slots are from UNA, the latest Pulse Asia survey showed.
UNA has yet to announce its final line-up for the 2013 polls. UNA is the coalition between Binay’s PDP-Laban and Pwersang Masang Pilipino.
