MANILA, Philippines - Sen. Panfilo Lacson said police officials make a lot of money from jueteng protection, to the tune of P1.5 million to P3 million monthly.

Lacson told reporters in an ambush interview that jueteng operators make about P50 million to P60 million in earnings daily.

He said a regional director of the Philippine National Police could get P3 million monthly while a provincial director may make P1.5 million monthly just to provide protection to jueteng rackets.

The senator said investigations on jueteng and "kotong" cops are already covered by existing resolutions in the Senate.
