Escudero, Llamanzares to complete UNA senatorial ticket --Enrile
The United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) plans to adopt Sen. Francis Escudero and Movie and Television Review and Classification Board chair Grace Poe-Llamanzares as its candidates for the 2013 senatorial elections, Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile confirmed on Monday.
Enrile said Escudero and Llamanzares will complete UNA's lineup. It has only 10 candidates so far.
"Senator Chiz and Grace Poe, I think, will be in the ticket of UNA although they are also going to be in the ticket of the Liberal Party (LP)," he said in a news forum.
Sen. Jinggoy Estrada also made this announcement last week, noting Escudero's and Llamanzares's close ties with UNA's leaders.
Llamanzares's father, the late Fernando Poe Jr., was a close friend of former President Joseph Estrada. Estrada's party Puwersa ng Masang Pilipino supported Poe's presidential bid in 2004.
Escudero, meanwhile, is close to both Estrada and Vice President Jejomar Binay.
However in an interview on ANC, Llamanzares neither confirmed nor denied her plans for 2013. She would not comment either on whether she prefers to run
under LP, UNA or both.
Over the weekend President Aquino announced Llamanzares is running under the LP.
Llamanzares however says she has not spoken to the President.
