Singson is considered one of the most influential politicians in the country. His testimony in the impeachment trial of President Joseph Estrada in 2000 led to the fall of the Estrada administration and the rise to power of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in January 2001.

On Friday, in an interview over Umagang Kay Ganda (UKG), Singson said he never admitted that he beat up his wife, although he said she did get hurt.

Tiongson said she finds nothing wrong with having a boyfriend because she and Singson already separated in November last year.She said she broke off with Singson because of his relationships with other women, some as young as their teenage children.

He has revealed that young actor Cogie Domingo was his wife's previous lover. He said the 23-year-old actor had an affair with Tiongson last year.
