MANILA - Atty. Gigi Reyes has asked the Sandiganbayan to allow her to undergo a medical examination after allegedly hitting her head against the wall of her detention cell at the Taguig City Jail.

In a motion received by the Third Division on September 1, Reyes claimed to have had "another" anxiety attack on August 5 which led to her injury.

On August 17, "after manifesting intermittent spasm of her right eyelid and cheek, as well as noticing a progressive slurring of her speech and a slight deposit of saliva on her right lip," Reyes was visited by Dr. Martesio Perez of the Makati Medical Center for an examination.

Perez is said to have observed a "right hemi facial spasm" on Reyes that may be "caused by pressure on the facial nerve by a tumor or an artery."

The doctor recommended that Reyes undergo Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Magnetic Resonance Angiogram (MRA) of the brain, and to consult neurosurgeon Dr. Willy Lopez.

The hearing on Reyes' motion is set for Thursday at 1:30pm. Also in the agenda tomorrow is Senator Juan Ponce Enrile's motion for hospital arrest at the PNP General Hospital.

Reyes is a co-accused in the plunder case against Enrile in connection with the P10 billion pork barrel scam of Janet Lim Napoles.
