MANILA, Philippines - There are a lot of priority bills that have yet to be discussed by the Senate, which means the controversial Reproductive Health (RH) Bill may again take the backseat during the 15th Congress.

Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III said they cannot ensure the passsage of the highly-divisive bill in the present Congress.
They said lawmakers have introduced many amendments to the bill, which should rightfully be discussed. The 2 senators denied this is just a delaying tactic.

They added it is the right of lawmakers to oppose certain provisions. Sotto is known to be anti-RH Bill while Enrile is leaning against it.

Senator Pia Cayetano believes otherwise, however. The passage of the bill has several times been derailed.

“Let's stop all this talk. Tama na ang drama, let's just do it and vote. Tama na sana itong mga parinig na ito. Kabastusan ito sa mga naghihirap para sa batas na ito. That's so embarassing to hear. Nakakahiya sa taumbayan,” she said.

"I am patient but I do not like to play games. Hindi na dapat ito abutin next year,” she added.
