MANILA - Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas said it is for the court to decide whether to hold Janet Lim Napoles' hearings at Fort Sto. Domingo in Sto. Rosa, Laguna.

He said they are just Napoles’ security guards. "Hindi para sa amin ang magsasabi nyan. Kami ay security guards lang. Kung anong sabihin ng korte, susunod kami.”

He said they have yet to determine the cost of keeping Napoles in Fort Sto Domingo. He said Napoles’ transportation costs from the Makati City Jail to Laguna and again to the Makati court for court appearances will be taken from the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) operating expenses.

Roxas reiterated it is important for them to be able to ensure Napoles' safety not because she is a VIP but because they want her to stand trial and face all the cases to be filed against her.

Being at Fort Sto. Domingo reduces the threats against her safety, he said. He also stressed they would make sure no harm comes to her whether self-inflicted or not.

PNP Chief Director General Allan Purisima, meantime, said there are at least 20 Special Action Force members involved in securing Napoles. The number does not include other PNP personnel involved in transporting her.
