MANILA - The judge hearing the serious illegal detention case of Janet Lim Napoles and her brother Reynald Lim will not inhibit from the case.

Makati City Trial Court Judge Elmo Alameda said he was "not convinced" that he "has shown bias and gravely abused his discretion" when he issued the warrants of arrest against Napoles and Lim.

In his resolution, Alameda said "there is no just or valid reason…to inhibit at this stage of the proceeding."

He believes that he can still "maintain the cold neutrality of an impartial judge."

Lim had also filed his own motion before the court asking for a suspension of proceedings.

Lim cited his pending motion for reconsideration at the Department of Justice (DOJ) and another petition at the Court of Appeals (CA).

The hearing is set on Friday, September 6.

Lim is still at large.
