MANILA, Philippines – Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III has launched the "Kontra Pandaraya Movement" (KPM) which aims to go after dishonest individuals and to protect citizens from swindlers.
Pimentel, who was a victim of election fraud himself in the 2007 elections, said the KPM will be the a venue for fraud victims to "bring their complaints and help them catch those who defrauded them.”
"With KPM or Kontra Pandaraya Movement, we hope to get rid of all forms of fraud both in the government service and private sector and assure that public that they have an ally who is willing to protect them against cheats," Pimentel said.
Pimentel said he was urged by the people to organize the KPM campaign “because it is from them he learned about the severity of the effects of fraud and deceit to the Filipino public.”
The Senator said the KPM will also help victims of insurance frauds, incorrect utility billings, overpricing of basic goods and other types of deception Filipinos come across everyday.
Pimentel is hoping other lawyers, concerned citizens and organizations would join him in KPM with the intention to hold liable the unscrupulous companies and individuals intending to victimize unsuspecting public.
He said the help of these people will be a big help in providing immediate remedy to fraud victims.
"Naniniwala ako na magagawa nating wakasan ang lahat ng uri ng pandaraya sa ating bansa sa tulong ng ating mga kababayan at maging ng media para mapapabilis ang paglutas ng suliraning ito, dapat lahat po tayo ay maging kalaban ng pandaraya,” Pimentel said.
