Country above self.

Our nation is in trouble. Leadership is bankrupt. Institutions are in disarray. People are hungry.

Noynoy Aquino and I share the same outrage over the mess we are all in, the same way we share the solution-clean, honest, selfless public service.

Kailangan nating ayusin. Matindi ang kalaban. We need a determined force for good far stronger than the festering evil around us.

We need to fight just as our own fathers fought dictatorship, and just as both died believing that good will conquer evil.

Noynoy and I want to make a difference, but we also know that we need to unite to achieve what we want.

I am the President of the Liberal Party.

It is within my power to preside over a potentially divisive process or to make the party a bridge for the forces of change. I choose to lead unity, not division. Bilang pinuno ng aking Partido, magdedesisyon ako.

Mahal ko ang Partido Liberal. My grandfather founded it. My father led it during the most difficult times of Martial Law.

He inspired me-to stay the course, to fight the good fight, to pass the test of true character. To believe.

Over the weekend, Noynoy and I had many long conversations... Masinsinang usapan. We agreed: Let us forget about ourselves for a moment. This is not about us, this is about our people and our country. This is about our common dream. The dream of our parents.

But let us not remain a country of dreamers. Tama na ang pangarap. Gawin na natin, ngayon.

Today, I am announcing my support for the candidacy of Noynoy Aquino for President in 2010.

Noy has made it clear to me that he wants to carry the torch of leadership.

The passing of our beloved former President Aquino has reawakened a passion among us. I acknowledge this as fuel to bring us to the realization of our dream: Good will triumph over evil.

I do this for unity in support of change. And if that means that somebody must make the sacrifice, it must be me. Ako na.

To you Noy, I say: I began the campaign to sow the seeds para sa pagbabago at reporma. You must now be the one to grow them in the arena of leadership.

Hindi kami maghihiwalay ni Noy. I will stand with him.

LAST DAYS

Everybody's Hungry for Peace for Unity, etc., but no one can RESTORE it.Everyone of us we're dreaming and hoping that someday we will achieved what we want in our government with the right man to rule the nation. We are now living in the Last Days,IT WAS WRITTEN so IT MUST BE DONE.

Well Said and Well Done!!!

Well said and well done!
When you announced your runnning for 2010, ive decided i will vote for you.
With this turn out and your sacrifice i thought to myself i was not mistaken in choosing my bet for 2010.
Mabuhay ka Mr. Roxas...you can count on our support!

Mabuhay ka, Sen Roxas

Sen Roxas, I vowed long before that if you run for president I will definitely, definitely vote for you. As disappointing this new development may seem to me, I laud you for this act of selflessness and I am proud and happy that I chose you to be my future president. It is now my hope (and I am sure the hope of many) that other opposition candidates will follow your footsteps and give way to one candidate for the sake of unity we so desperately need. I work overseas and I hope to see my country rise from the mire of poverty and hopelessness it is in. I hope that someday Filipinos don’t have to live somewhere else, leave their homes, friends and family behind, risking loneliness and danger, just to be able to put food on their tables, give their children education and enjoy bits of luxury many have been deprived of. God knows we have sacrificed long enough. What you have done has brought realization to many that decent men exist in Philippine politics. I still hope to see you as president someday. Mabuhay ka.

ON VILLAR-AQUINO 2010 TICKET

Sen. Villar is part of the Nacionalista Party, a center-right party supportive of the centrist government party Lakas Kampi CMD. Sen. Roxas and Sen. Aquino on the other hand are part of the Liberal Party which is a center-left party. While both are members of the Genuine Opposition which is a political coalition of parties, these two oldest political parties are expected to and will try to set their own agendas as they have a strong fighting chance for a Malacañang bid. (The Nacionalistas had not had a presidential bid after losing the 1992 elections.)

Therefore, I doubt that this two parties will come together again this election to run under an umbrella coalition. So, there might be little to no chance that we will see a Villar-Aquino or Aquino-Villar ticket for the 2010 elections.

I do join millions of Filipino's desire for real change and progress for this country.

My advice to those who making a political bid this election, the voters are tired and want to see policy not popularity. To those eying Malacañang, make sure you know where you want to take the country for the next 6 years and at least try very hard deliver what you promise once you take office.

To the voters, this election will only be about popularity and personality if we let it be. Let's make it about policy and platforms!

AQUINO/ERAP/VILLAR

It is time for AQUINO, ERAP and VILLAR to have a summit on who is going to be the main opposition candidate for the 2010 presidential election. ERAP will be the main mediator for the AQUINO and VILLAR dialogue since Erap wants them to unite to field a common candidate. Erap made it known he will not run if the opposition agree to field one major candidate. THIS IS VERY POSSIBLE. I would like to see an AQUINO/VILLAR OR VILLAR/AQUINO in 2010. If all of you are dead serious about solving the country's gigantic problems mainly corruptions, poverty, hunger, unemployment, Mindanao peace and order, one of you has to make the supreme sacrifice. Let us make this go forward so we can solve the country's ills, gentlemen. To you Mr. Aquino, Mr. ERAP and Mr. Villar, all of you I hope will do the right thing. Good luck, Sirs.

I salute you

... for giving way to Sen. Aquino and for not creating a divide in the Liberal Party that could've been party's undoing. You have turned a potential party split to your party's becoming. I'm sure you have made your father and grandfather proud in this respect.

It is a pity though because you had the momentum, the charisma and the message of hope and change that would've been enough to carry you to Malacañang. (What you didn't have is a good campaign team, though.) But this decision alone gives you more credibility and mandate for the next election than you could ever hope for. Use it well on whatever office you decide to pursue.

COUNTRY ABOVE SELF

.....you said? Why do you have to surrender a good fight? You are the only one who has a fighting chance to change the course of what is going on in the country. All these wannabes do not have the qualities of a good leader and the political acumen to steer the country from the abyss. I am so sorry for you, but I salute you for having the courage to slide down to give in to a much lesser candidate who's qualification is non-existent and just riding the wave of emotions of his deceased mother. Is this enough? Popularity at its best but lacking in essential leadership to direct the country full of scoundrels and corrupt politicians who are in for their self serving interest. I predict the next 6 years will not be good for the country.

Calling for the good ones...!

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. "Edmund Burke"

Let us unite for the good of the Philippines! Magkaisa at ituloy ang laban...! Mabuhay and God bless the Philippines!

We salute you

Senator Mar Roxas, for your willingness and humility to allow Senator Noynoy Aquino to run for president, we salute you!
