MANILA – President Benigno Aquino III believes justice will prevail and he will hurdle attempts to have him impeached.
Speaking to Bombo Radyo, Aquino said most of the people who filed the impeachment complaints against him belong to the Left.
He said it has become a habit for these personalities to criticize him.
''Iyon talagang masyado nila akong pine-personal."
Aquino believes these leftists do not enjoy the same amount of support from the public that the government enjoys under his administration.
The three impeachment complaints against Aquino were declared sufficient in form last Tuesday at the House Justice committee.
The complaints say there was betrayal of public trust and culpable violation of the Constitution over the Disbursement Acceleration Program and Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement.
The next step after the vote on sufficiency in substance is the separate votes on sufficiency of the grounds, the finding of probable cause at the committee, and the final impeachment vote at the plenary.
''Mahirap naman yatang maging insufficient in form dahil form nga e, para bang fill in the blanks lang iyon. Pero at the end of the day, naniniwala ako magkakaroon tayo ng katarungan diyan,'' Aquino said.
Meanwhile, the President downplayed the steep decline in his ratings, saying the public just needs to be informed better about the government's efforts to bring reforms.
''So ano ba ang ibig sabihin ‘nung nagaalanganin? Medyo baka nalito? Baka hindi nasasakyan lahat ‘nung issue. Baka kailangan pa alamin."
