MANILA - Sen. Nancy Binay is adamant that her family did not pocket any funds from the allegedly overpriced Makati City Hall Building Two, which had a budget of P2.7 billion.

Speaking to ABS-CBN's Umagang Kay Ganda, Binay said not a single witness in the Senate Blue Ribbon subcommittee hearing has directly pointed to any overpricing in the construction of the building.

"Wala hong overpricing. Wala ho kaming ninakaw diyan," she said in the interview.

Vice-President Jejomar Binay and Makati Mayor Junjun Binay, the senator's father and brother, are currently facing a plunder complaint for the alleged overpricing of the building.

Sen. Koko Pimentel said the Senate Blue Ribbon subcommittee will decide on a possible ocular inspection of the building to determine whether the structure is worth its hefty price tag.

In the interview, Binay said that aside from complainant Renato Bondal and Senators Antonio Trillanes IV and Alan Peter Cayetano, no other person has pointed out that the building is overpriced.

She said property appraiser Federico Cuervo never directly said that the building is overpriced. This is after Cuervo said the building should only cost P23,000 per square meter and not the P84,000 per square meter allegedly spent by the local government.

"Sila lang naman ang nagsasabing overpriced. Kung matatandaan ninyo, the [Commission on Audit] never said overpriced ang building," she said.

Binay admitted that her family are hurting as a result of the investigation, which she denounced as politically motivated.

She also said the Senate has become "a venue for a talk show for people with personal interests."

The female senator said she will continue to inhibit from the hearings so as not to be accused of lawyering for her brother.

She also said she will not ask Senators Trillanes and Cayetano to inhibit from the investigation even though they are possible opponents of Vice-President Binay in the 2016 elections.

"Yung mga kasamahan ko sa Senado tingin ko nasa saktong edad na sila na malaman kung tama o mali ang ginagawa nila ngayon," she said.
