MANILA, Philippines - The brother of the late Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo admitted Thursday that their family was hurt by the unkind words and actions of their uncle, Camarines Sur 3rd district Rep. Luis Villafuerte Sr.
Butch Robredo denied that it was Villafuerte who bankrolled his brother's first run for mayor of Naga City.
He also said the family never said a bad word against Villafuerte despite his tirades against Robredo. Earlier reports said it was also Villafuerte who tried to block Robredro's confirmation as DILG chief before the Commission on Appointments.
"We've never said a bad word against our uncle, Kahit na dine-deny niya, minsan kung ano anong sinasabi, masakit man po sa amin..." Butch said.
"Kung ang tatay lang po namin hindi lang nasaktan siguro we will not mind but he was hurt. Kami po wala we don't mind we just do our job. What we mind is our father getting hurt," he added.
He also said the family remains civil to the Villafuertes and will welcome them to his brother's wake.
He said they told Villafuerte to talk to their father after the congressman tried to make amends.
