MANILA, Philippines - Some of the survivors and kin of the victims of the August 23 Manila hostage crisis are set to arrive around 10:00 p.m. on Sunday to lay down their demands from the Philippine government.
They will meet with Justice Secretary Leila de Lima on Monday, after a request for a dialogue with President Benigno Aquino III was snubbed.
Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda earlier said a meeting with Aquino is not needed anymore since the government has done enough apologizing. He also claimed the meeting would just be used for politics.
The survivors and the kin of the victims are reportedly handing de Lima their letter to Aquino, which seeks for another apology from the government. They also want compensation for the botched handling of the hostage crisis.
