MANILA, Philippines - Another inmate at the New Bilibid Prisons has been reported missing following the alleged kidnapping and return of convicted killer Rolito Go this week.

Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said on Saturday that a murder convict detained at the maximum security compound of the NBP is missing.
“Confirmed nga na meron pang isang inmate who was found missing on August 15. Gabi ng August 15, sa headcount may nadiskubre na nawawala, named Rommel Laciste, who was convicted by RTC (Regional Trial Court) Isabela for murder,” De Lima said.
The inmate escaped on Wednesday, the day road rage killer Go surfaced after he was allegedly kidnapped Tuesday night and abandoned in Tanauan, Batangas the following day.
Unlike Go, who was detained at the minimum security compound of NBP, Laciste was an inmate at the maximum security compound.
“It seems nagkaroon na naman ng breach of security. Ang unang suspicion ng mga nagiimbestiga is baka daw nakisakay sa isang truck na nagsu-supply ng kung anuman na sinu-supply dito, like rice,” said De Lima.
De Lima said an investigation is ongoing, and a search team is now conducting a manhunt operation against the fugitive.
“He's an escapee, and therefore can be a valid subject for a manhunt,” she said.
De Lima, the current head of the NBP following the indefinite leave of Bureau of Corrections chief Gaudencio Pangilinan, learned of the missing inmate during her visit to the NBP in Muntinlupa City on Friday.
“Titingnan natin ulit kung sino ang nagkulang dito sa NBP. This is maximum security compound, so hindi dapat nangyayari yan,” she said.
The DOJ Secretary said she will ask the NBP for a picture of the inmate which she will disseminate to media to help in Laciste’s immediate capture.-- Report from Dexter Ganibe, dzMM
