MANILA -- President Benigno Aquino III will focus his attention in reviewing the draft Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) once it is submitted to him on Monday, August 18.

In an interview with radio dzRB, Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said this is in view of the timetable set by the government for the elections of officials of the Bangsamoro Political Entity to coincide with the 2016 elections.

This means that by the first quarter of 2015, a Bangsamoro Transitional Assembly should already be in place.

The peace panels of the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) wrapped up talks on the contents of the draft BBL last Friday.

In a joint statement, Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. and Bangsamoro Transition Commission Chair Mohagher Iqbal said: “The parties have agreed that the resolutions arrived at by both parties will be incorporated into the final draft Basic Bangsamoro Law that will be prepared and submitted to President Benigno S. Aquino III.”

The BBL is one of the measures that Malacanang asked Congress to focus on.
