MANILA, Philippines – The active low pressure area that state weather bureau PAGASA is monitoring has developed into a tropical depression, named "Helen."
It was last spotted 750 kilometers East of Casiguran, Aurora traversing a west northwest direction at 11 kilometers per hour.
It is packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center.
PAGASA has not raised any public storm warning signals.
Although it will not directly hit the country, “Helen” is expected to enhance the monsoon rains particularly in Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
PAGASA said the country could expect 10-20 millimeter or moderate to heavy rains by Tuesday, while cloudy conditions and some rains may prevail beginning Monday.
