MANILA - Senator Nancy Binay is not bothered by a resolution filed by Senator Antonio Trillanes IV calling for a blue ribbon committee investigation into an alleged overpricing in the construction of a parking building in Makati City Hall, which is the subject of a plunder case filed against Vice President Jejomar Binay and Makati Mayor Jun-jun Binay.
Senator Binay is confident her father and brother would be able to answer the charges.
“Hindi (I don’t take offense). ‘Di ba sabi ko ‘Bring it on,” Binay told reporters.
If it pushes through, Binay said she would inhibit from the Senate hearing.
But Binay sees politics in Trillanes’ move, saying this might be related to posturing for the 2016 elections.
“Lahat na lang ibabato nila di ba. Nakakagulat lang at nakakalungkot na gamitin ang Senado to hit on their potential kalaban for 2016,” she said.
“Bagsak na nga ang rating namin dito sa Senado tapos hahaluan pa ng pulitika.”
Senator Binay is wondering why Trillanes did not just ask for documents from her office to clarify the issue. She said that her office is just beside that of Trillanes’.
“There mere fact that COA already said na ‘ung presyo ng building, okay siya, may COA certification na tapos magfa-file pa ng resolution, nakakapagtaka nga lang. E kung ‘yun ang iaangat nila, wala tayong magagawa.”
