MANILA - Appointing a possible successor is not President Benigno Aquino III’s focus at this time, Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said.

In an interview with radio dzRB, Coloma said Aquino should be allowed to focus on introducing or continuing reforms that he has already set in place since he became president.

Talks are rife that Aquino may give his blessings to Vice President Jejomar Binay as even his sisters have said that they don't have a problem with Binay.

But Coloma noted tyhat 2016 is still far away to initiate issues on politics.

The same goes for talks on Charter change amid calls for a term extension.

“Nasabi na nga po natin, marami naman pong iba pa ring pinagkakaabalahan ang Pangulo,” Coloma said, adding that it would be best if the public will be the one to talk about this matter.

Coloma earlier said Aquino would step down in 2016, but his other colleagues in the communications team – presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda and his deputy Abigail Valte – have said the people will have a say on the matter.
