MANILA, Philippines – Vice-President Jejomar Binay raised the specter of a possible impeachment plot against him after the Commission on Audit conducted an audit of his projects when he was still mayor of Makati.
Speaking to reporters, Binay said he has received reports that he will be “gone by December” because of a demolition job against him.
Asked if that meant that there is an impeachment plot against him, he said: "Baka. So, tingnan natin."
Binay said the ongoing COA audit led by Commissioner Heidi Mendoza was politically motivated especially since the projects were already cleared by Makati resident auditors and a task force from COA central office.
He said the audit is part of a demolition campaign against him by those who are "insecure" because of his high survey ratings and who see him as a threat to their own presidential plans in 2016.
