Drilon puts on hold JPE's suspension
MANILA, Philippines - Senate President Franklin Drilon has put on hold the Sandiganbayan order suspending Senate Minority Leader Juan Ponce Enrile.
In a manifestation submitted to the anti-graft court’s Third Division yesterday, Drilon’s chief of staff Renato Bantug Jr. said the Senate leadership will await the decision on the appeal that Enrile intends to file.
Drilon’s office said the suspension order will be enforced “upon this honorable court’s disposition of the motion for reconsideration, or upon the lapse of the prescribed period to file a motion for reconsideration and no such motion is filed.”
Last week, the Sandiganbayan ordered Enrile’s suspension for 90 days based on the plunder case he is facing.
The anti-graft court’s Fifth Division also issued a preventive suspension order against Sen. Jinggoy Estrada.
