MANILA - Alleged pork barrel mastermind Janet Lim Napoles was finally transferred from Fort Santo Domingo in Sta. Rosa, Laguna to Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City late Monday night.
A heavily guarded police convoy brought Napoles to Bicutan, where she will be placed under the custody of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).
Napoles will be held in an isolation room for about a week before she is detained in a dormitory for female inmates, according to authorities.
The Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 150, which has prior jurisdiction over the businesswoman, did not oppose her transfer.
The Sandiganbayan 3rd Division on Friday ordered Napoles' transfer.
Sandiganbayan 3rd Division executive clerk of court Dennis Pulma said anti-graft court is being consistent after it ordered another accused in the pork barrel scam, lawyer Jessica Lucila "Gigi" Reyes, detained at Camp Bagong Diwa.
"The court is just being consistent that prisoners, persons accused and awaiting trial be jailed in a facility under the supervision of the BJMP," he told reporters.
He said process servers have already received the division's minute resolutions.
Napoles is facing plunder and graft charges for the multibillion-peso scam where she allegedly created fake non-government organizations to receive pork barrel allocations from some lawmakers.
She was first detained at the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force training school facility at Fort Sto. Domingo after she was slapped with a serious illegal detention charge by pork scam whistle-blower Benhur Luy.
Her lawyers earlier questioned her transfer, saying the Sandiganbayan order must be clarified first. - with reports from Bettina Magsaysay, ABS-CBN News; Zandro Ochona, dzMM
