MANILA - The lawyer of Janet Lim Napoles filed before the Sandiganbayan First Division their opposition to the prosecution's motion to have Napoles transferred from Fort Sto. Domingo in Sta. Rosa, Laguna to a Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facility.

Napoles' camp cited the doctrine of adherence of jurisdiction, emphasizing that the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 150, where she is facing a serious illegal detention case, has already qualified her as a "high risk" detainee.

This warrants her detention at Fort Sto. Domingo, they said.

Napoles' lawyer argued that as a matter of courtesy to Makati RTC Branch 150, Napoles should remain there.

Napoles' camp also reiterated that since she is a high risk detainee, utmost importance should be given to her life and security.

They also said that the prosecution's contention that the expenses incurred every time Napoles is brought from Fort Sto. Domingo to the Sandiganbayan does not hold water anymore since Napoles has already waived her court appearances.

Napoles is accused of conniving with lawmakers and government officials of funneling billions of pesos in pork barrel funds to fake non-government organizations that she set up.
