MANILA, Philippines - Former President and now Pampanga 2nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is skipping President Aquino’s State of the Nation Address on July 25, Monday.
Her acting spokesman Maria Teresa Defensor confirmed this in a text message to ABS-CBN News today.
Arroyo will miss Aquino’s speech a 2nd time. She was in Hong Kong last year during Aquino's first SONA.
Aquino is expected to reprise his criticisms of Arroyo in his speech.
Arroyo’s legal spokesman Raul Lambino said he will advise Arroyo to skip the speech.
Arroyo was at the Department of Justice today to attest to her counter-affidavit on plunder charges stemming from alleged misuse of Overseas Workers' Welfare Administration funds.
