MANILA, Philippines - President Benigno Aquino found time in his busy schedule Thursday to visit the wake of artist Joey Velasco.

In his visit that lasted more than 10 minutes, the President joined the Velasco family in saying a prayer for the artist.
Aquino also took a few moments to talk with the artist's widow, Queenie, and their four children.
The Velasco family presented to the president a sketch his late father, Senator Ninoy Aquino, which the artist had made.
The President also greeted each of the kids who sat for Velasco when he was working on his opus "Hapag ng Pag-asa."
Aquino recalled that Velasco was among those who quietly supported his presidential campaign.
Joey Velasco's remains lie at Funeraria Nacional, Araneta Avenue, Quezon City.
Interment is on July 24, Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City. -- by Caroline Howard, ANC
