MANILA - The Scrap Pork Alliance kicked off its Peach Ribbon campaign in the City of Manila exactly one week before President Aquino delivers his 5th State of the Nation Address on July 28.

Members of the group distributed and tied peach ribbons around the vicinity of Bustillos in Sampaloc to air their strong support for the impeachment case filed against President Aquino.

The group said the Peach Ribbon campaign is meant to counter the recent call of Aquino for his supporters to wear yellow ribbons.

The Scrap Pork Alliance is also set to bring the Peach Ribbon campaign to various schools, workplaces and communities before the SONA next week.

They also encouraged the public to tie peach ribbons and anything colored peach to show their strong opposition to the disbursement acceleration program (DAP) and the pork barrel system.

"(Ang) peach ay symbol ng accountability. Kasing tunog din ng impeachment proceedings sa Kongreso. Kaya gawa kami kampanya para mapukaw suporta ng mamayan," said Francis Mariazeta of Scrap Pork Alliance.
