MANILA, Philippines - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will restart the general continuing registration of voters nationwide on August 1 until October 31, 2012.

This after the poll body concluded on July 18 the general registration of voters in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes said part of their resolution authorizing the general registration in the ARMM mandates the restarting of the nationwide continuing registration.

Brillantes said Comelec cannot yet release a final figure on the number of registered ARMM voters since those who registered will still be subjected to review and exclusion proceedings.

He said the Comelec hopes to come up with a final list of voters for ARMM before October 1, the start of the filing of certificates of candidacy.

For now, the poll body will work on the redeployment of resources used in the general registration at the  ARMM.
