MANILA, Philippines - Vice President Jejomar Binay is open to a “super coalition” between his United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) and the administration Liberal Party (LP).
"Okay iyon, ang sinasabi namin nang magkaroon ng UNA candidates ay ang mabigyan ang mga kababayan natin ng opportunity para makapamili pa ng mga qualified and willing to work in government," Binay told reporters at the sidelines of Ambassador Luis Cdebaca's courtesy call at the Coconut Palace.
San Juan City Rep. Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito, UNA member and senatorial candidate, earlier suggested the possibility of a coalition since there is no “real opposition” to oppose the ruling party.
Binay does not see a conflict of interest there since the kind of opposition that UNA represents is not the same as the opposition one usually thinks of.
"Kami, basically, tutulong sa tuwid na daan. Iyon lang, kapag naliligwak, nagkakamali iyong iba naming kasama sa gobyerno, tatawagan namin ng pansin," Binay said.
