MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant Vice-Admiral Edmund Tan has been suspended for 90 days by the Sandiganbayan 4th Division due to a graft case filed against him.

The Sandiganbayan order was signed by 4th Division Justices Gregory Ong, Jose Hernandez, and Ma Cristina Cornejo.

The order has been forwarded to Transportation Secretary Mar Roxas for implementation.

Tan, a former PCG-Eastern Visayas chief, was sued by businessman Reynaldo Chua for detaining a shipment of iron in 2007. Chua said the delay cost him P500,000.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources later upheld Chua's transport permit. Report by Dennis Datu, radio dzMM
