MANILA, Philippines - Television host and columnist Manuel “Manolo” Quezon III will also be joining the highly touted communications group of President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, sources said.

Quezon, the grandson of former President Manuel L. Quezon, resigned from the ABS-CBN News Channel on Saturday, July 10.

A known historian, Quezon was tapped as spokesman for the inaugural of Aquino.

Since then, he has been on leave from his ANC show “The Explainer.”

The Philippine Daily Inquirer reported Quezon is also on leave from his column “The Long View.”

He will be joining journalist Ricky Carandang, who also resigned from ANC on Friday, supposedly to strategize and craft the government’s messages.

Both will work together with former Presidential Management Staff chief Herminio “Sonny” Coloma to handle media operations.

Aquino’s camp has yet to confirm the composition of the communications group. The announcement will supposedly be made on Monday.

The communications group is poised to replace the Office of the Press Secretary.
