Jinggoy's wife hopes cases dismissed soon
MANILA - The wife of Senator Jose "Jinggoy" Estrada Jr. is hopeful the plunder and graft cases against her husband will be dismissed by the Sandiganbayan soon.
Estrada's wife, Presentacion Vitug, said their lawyers believe that the charges against Estrada are not only weak but defective.
In the meantime, she said her family is coping.
To help keep the senator preoccupied during his detention, she said they will be bringing him loom bands, a popular toy made up of weaved rubber bands.
Vitug said they are able to visit Estrada 2-3 times a week. Unlike Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. who earlier complained about the heat, roaches, and rats in his cell, Estrada allegedly has no complaints with the condition of the detention facility.
The senator would also like to get back to exercising soon.
"Nananaba na raw siya," she said.
Meanwhile, Estrada counsel Atty. Jose Flaminiano is confident that his client will be granted bail.
"Gustong palakasin ng prosecution yung kaso nila kaya nila gustong maghain ng amended complaint. Pero inatras nila yon, ibig sabihin mahina ang kaso nila. Hopefully ma-grant yung bail," he said.
