MANILA - Former Senator Dr. Loi Estrada visited her son, detained Senator Jinggoy Estrada, at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame on Tuesday afternoon.

PNP records showed that Mrs. Estrada logged in at 1 p.m. She left the facility at 2:12 p.m.

She was accompanied by the senator's wife, Precy, who brought with her some personal belongings of her husband.

PNP spokesperson Sr. Supt. Reuben Theodore Sindac confirmed that Senator Estrada declared his mom as his personal physician.

Under the rules of the PNP Custodial Center, visiting hours for the physicians, lawyers, spiritual advisers, and direct relatives such as parents and siblings of the inmates are more flexible provided that it is approved by the PNP.

The younger Estrada on Monday surrendered to the Sandiganbayan after its Fifth Division ordered his arrest for the plunder and graft charges he is facing over the pork barrel scam.

Estrada, who is accused of plundering P183 million, is the second senator to be ordered arrested over the multibillion-peso anomaly.

Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. on Friday surrendered to the anti-graft court. He is also detained at the PNP Custodial Center. -- Report from Edwin Sevidal, dzMM
