MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang has suspended work in all government offices in Metro Manila as of Friday afternoon due to heavy rains brought by tropical storm "Falcon", a radio dzMM report said.
The announcement came hours after the Department of Education suspended classes from pre-school to high school in all private and public schools in Metro Manila and some nearby cities and provinces.
Weather bureau PAGASA said Falcon will continue to bring heavy rains to Metro Manila and parts of western Luzon including Bataan, Zambales, Pangasinan, Pampanga and Bulacan on Saturday.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said a total of 32,118 families have been affected by floods in 132 barangays of 17 municipalities and 10 cities in Bulacan, Pampanga, Zambales,
Rizal, Albay and cities of Makati, Malabon, Manila, Marikina, Quezon City, Taguig and Valenzuela in Regions III, IV-A, V and Metro Manila.
The rains have also destroyed an estimated P658 million in crops in 5 regions.
