Analyst slams 'circus' in arrest of Revilla
MANILA - University of the Philippines (UP) political science professor Dr. Clarita Carlos slammed the news coverage of the arrest and detnetion of Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.
In an interview with radio dzMM, Carlos said the public does not need to know the complaints of Revilla, such as the rats and roaches in his detention cell.
“Why are we flaunting these for god’s sake? Please let go. Huwag bawat hininga ng tao ay pinapakialaman natin,” she said.
She said the public deserves to know more about relevant things, such as why fuel prices remain high.
Amid all these, she noted the public has also forgotten “how to become outraged… Sobrang baba na ng level ng ating tinatanggap. Sobra na ang mediocrity all around.”
She also slammed the government for doing “spasmodic things” in terms of managing the country’s problems.
Carlos is reacting to calls for the creation of a special division to hasten the pork barrel scam case.
“Bakit tayo mahilig sa adhoc, spasmodic things?”
She also cited, as examples, the creation of offices for former Senators Francis Pangilinan and Panfilo Lacson.
“Why are we doing this [special division]? We’re only increasing bureaucracy. Pareho din naman ang rules of court… Twelve inches is 12 inches, that’s why you call it a rules,” she said.
