MANILA - Malacañang on Thursday said President Benigno Aquino III will not sack Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mar Roxas and Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Alan Purisima.

Communications Secretary Sonny Coloma said the President continues to trust both Roxas and Purisima despite the rising criminality in the country.

The Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) earlier called on Aquino to sack the two officials.

VACC founding chairman Dante Jimenez told radio dzMM that "there are a lot of people out there who can focus on strategies meant to protect and benefit our people from crimes."

"We are paying our taxes. If we really are his (Aquino) bosses, he should listen to us," Jimenez added.

Palace, meanwhile, thanked the VACC for its letter, where it gave suggestions on how to resolve peace and order in the country. -- Report from Junry Hidalgo, dzMM
