MANILA - Justice Secretary Leila de Lima cited delicadeza in response to Senator Bong Revilla's hint that he may run for president in 2016 amid his plunder and graft cases in connection with the "pork barrel scam."
While De Lima admitted that there is no legal impediment for Revilla to run minus any conviction from the court, or disqualification from his post, the Justice chief said the issue will boil down to delicadeza.
"Strictly walang legal impediment sa ganyan... but it's more of a sense of delicadeza, the decision whether or not to run in spite of these cases against him. Sense of delicadeza and sense of utmost responsibility towards upholding national interest. This is plunder, the cases against them are no ordinary cases. But if you're asking me kung may impediment, wala pag wala pang conviction sa isang kaso and wala pang disqualification. Kasi magsisimula pa lang ang kaso sa Sandiganbayan," she said.
