MANILA, Philippines - President-elect Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III had a meeting with Naga City Mayor Jesse Robredo on Tuesday regarding a possible Cabinet post.

Aquino said he informed Robredo that he is being considered for the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Robredo, a Ramon Magsaysay awardee for Government Service, said he is willing and ready to accept any position in the Aquino cabinet.

Sources said there are 5 to 7 names listed as possible DILG secretary.

Aquino also said that he has yet to discuss with incoming Vice-president Jejomar Binay what his role would be.

"As I told you, I'm a person who wants to build consensus, so I would have to discuss with the concerned individual, and I would rather discuss it with him first, yung possible slots in the Cabinet. I would have to talk to him first. He has to know what my agenda is as far as the local government is concerned," he said.

He added: "It might not be consistent with his political plans so again, I owe them some courtesy by telling them Ito yung puwede kong ialok sa iyo. Ito papasukan mo. Kaya mo ba to? Gusto mo ba 'to?" he said.

Binay, long-time mayor of Makati, earlier said he was eyeing the DILG portfolio.

But recently, he noted that he will take any position given to him by the next president. -- report from ANC
