MANILA, Philippines -- The remains of Brig. Gen. Daniel Lucero were laid to rest at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Fort Bonifacio on Saturday noon.
Lucero, the commander of the Philippine Army’s 1st Tabak Infantry Division, was given a 21-gun salute.
Aside from his family, friends and former classmates were also present at the Libingan ng mga Bayani to pay their last respects to Lucero.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) earlier said Lucero was diving at Tabak beach, Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur during the reception of newly assigned 2LTs when he collapsed last Sunday.
He was declared dead at the Mendero Hospital in Pagadian City.
Investigation is still ongoing as to the cause of Lucero's death since it is still unclear whether it was a diving accident or a heart attack.
