MANILA, Philippines - While her name has been floated as among President Aquino's choices to replace former Chief Justice Renato Corona, Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Kim Jacinto Henares believes it's too early to talk about it.
Henares said the Judicial and Bar Council, which recommends nominees to the President, has not opened nominations for the position.
"In the first place, the position has not been advertised yet," she told reporters on Monday. "I think it's premature to even talk about it at this point in time."
"I'll think about it when it's there, if it gets there."
Henares added that she still has a lot of work to do at the BIR.
She said, however, that she feels honored that President Aquino and Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima believe she's qualified to be Chief Justice.
"The objective in going to government service is to help the country," Henares said.
She added that she is willing to be where she's more effective and most needed.
