MANILA, Philippines – Despite the shortage of classrooms and books and bad weather, the Department of Education said majority of public schools are prepared for the official opening of classes on June 4.
Education Assistant Secretary Jesus Mateo, however, said school repairs and construction are still ongoing in places like Payatas.
Mateo added that despite the early enrollment in January, some parents have not enrolled or registered their children.
Parents have expressed concerns regarding the transfer of students from private to public schools.
The DepEd is set to implement the new curriculum for Grades 1-7 as part of the K to 12 program beginning Monday. -- ANC
