Napoles camp admits another error in pork list

MANILA - The lawyer of Janet Lim Napoles has admitted that they erroneously included Cebu 1st District Representative Gerald Gullas Jr. in the list of alleged pork barrel scam beneficiaries due to pressure to finish the second affidavit before the deadline.

"Due to pressure to finish the second affidavit on the scheduled deadline, the name of Gerald Gullas was included in the transaction records of JLN... Last night, JLN noticed the mistake. It is not Gerald Gullas, but Eduardo Gullas," Atty. Bruce Rivera said.

Rivera said only the surname "Gullas" was in the transaction records of Napoles.

The encoder assumed it was the incumbent lawmaker when it was supposed to be former Cebu Representative Eduardo Gullas, he said.

Gerald Gullas has challenged the veracity of the list, pointing out that he is a first-term congressman and has not even received his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) since the Supreme Court stopped its release.

"I was not even a Congressman yet between the time Janet Napoles and her gang of thieves were plundering public funds, until they were finally caught. Secondly, from day one of my first term, my district never availed of any Priority Assistance Development Fund (PDAF) allotments – not a single centavo... Thus, the inclusion of my name in any of the so-called Napoles lists is downright inconceivable, even laughable," Gullas said.

This is the second time the Napoles camp admitted a mistake in the list of lawmakers and other individuals who allegedly received kickbacks from the pork barrel scam.

They earlier apologized to Senator JV Ejercito for including him in the list. -- With report from ANC
