MANILA - The anti-political dynasty bill is not a top priority of the administration, Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said.

In an interview with radio dzRB, Coloma said President Benigno Aquino III recognizes the principles behind the bill, which are in the Constitution.

Still, “it is not a top priority since we have a lot of legislation that need to be passed first,” he said.

This comes after a promise from some senators that the bill will soon be debated on the floor.

Senator Aquilino 'Koko' Pimentel III said the committee on electoral reforms and people’s participation will hold one more hearing before a new bill is drafted to consolidate all versions.

Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago has 2 bills, while Senator JV Ejercito has one.

“It’s about time to report out an anti-political dynasty bill for plenary discussion, but a lot of ideas came out during the committee hearings which I want to be accommodated in the bill to be reported out,” Pimentel was quoted as saying.

The bill has garnered support from several senators.
