MANILA - Senate President Pro-Tempore Ralp Recto is not in favor of the proposal of Janet Napoles' lawyer that senators being implicated in the scam inhibit from the Senate inquiry on the matter if it is reconvened.

Recto told reporters that senators being linked to the scam should be allowed to face their accusers.

"No. I think sa justice system natin, you have a right to confront the accuser. Mas mabuti na rin 'yun palagay ko na magharap-harap," he said.

Recto said the evidence should be examined first before any list could be considered credible.

"Ang mahalaga sa akin, ano ang ebidensya? Yun tignan natin. Everyone in the list, maaaring hindi totoo, maaaring nagkamali. It's lumped up together with everyone else na posibleng maliwanag naman ang ebidensya," he said.

Napoles is accused of conniving with legislators and government officials to siphon billions of pesos in priority development assistance funds (PDAF) to fake NGOs she founded.

Lawyer Bruce Rivera earlier said legislators being linked to the scam should inhibit in the Senate investigation. He said Napoles has checks, vouchers and transaction records that will back up her claims of transactions with lawmakers.
