MANILA - PhilHealth President and CEO Alex Padilla denied that it is taking PhilHealth at least six months to reimburse private hospitals, as alleged by Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines Inc. president Rustico Jimenez.

Padilla said PhilHealth is in the process of fixing system glitches to address this concern but reiterated the agency is not mismanaged.

"Aayusin naman lahat ng problema na ‘yan within the month. We will start processing all the other claims na na-delay ng kaunti.

Asked to react to Jimenez's statement that private hospitals may be forced not to honor patients' PhilHealth membership as a result, Padilla urged hospitals not to drag the patients into the issue.

He warned that PhilHealth will take legal action if private hospitals do so.

And if they do that, ang babawian namin ay mga ospital. I’m sure all the other hospitals will abide by the law na talagang huwag naman nila i-prejudice ang ating mga miyembro na wala namang kinalaman dito sa ginagawa nila?" Padilla said.

"We will take legal action. I think the facts have been… misstated by no less than Dr. Jimenez himself."

“Pero maliban doon, I think kakampi naman namin itong ang mga hospital na ‘to. We’ve been paying them the benefits na kailangan naman bayaran.
