MANILA, Philippines - Vice President Jejomar Binay is not complaining about the impending entry of his foe into the Aquino Cabinet.
In an interview with reporters, he said “whatever help he [former Senator Manuel “Mar” Roxas III] can give the government, would be good. Anyway, it is still the discretion of the President.”
The bitter fight between the 2 in the 2010 vice-presidential race has reached the courts, with Roxas elevating an election protest before the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET).
Some quarters fear that Roxas’ entry, probably as Presidential Chief of Staff, would spell doom for the barely year-old administration. Some Aquino supporters are allegedly at odds with the Roxas group.
Senator Francis Escudero, during the elections, even pushed for a “Noybi” tandem, a play on the names of President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III and Binay.
For his part, however, Binay said it is not yet clear where Roxas will be positioned. – from a report by Alvin Elchico, ABS-CBN News
